Football Recap: Karns City's Rushing Dominance Continues

The Karns City Gremlins didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the Westinghouse Bulldogs on Friday, but they still walked away with a 28-24 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Gremlins.

Karns City's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cole Johnston, who rushed for 75 yards and three scores. The Gremlins also got a significant boost from Hunter Scherer, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 88 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Karns City was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 239 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 181 rushing yards in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Karns City's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB eight times. Mason Bell was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three sacks himself. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight. Karns City got some further help from Shane Emrick: he picked up 1.5 sacks and made 16 total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Karns City's record now sits at 5-2. As for Westinghouse, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Looking ahead, Karns City will take on Brockway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westinghouse does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
