Soccer Game Preview: Avon Lake vs. Lake Catholic

The Avon Lake Shoremen will take on the Lake Catholic Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Lake Catholic will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Avon Lake extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Shoremen's defense stepped up to hand North Ridgeville a 1-0 shutout. Give Avon Lake's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Lincoln Rose, who's now up to six this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Lake Catholic and Padua Franciscan, and Padua Franciscan kept the tradition alive. The Cougars fell just short of the Bruins by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Lake Catholic couldn't quite close it out.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lake Catholic fell to 9-1-2. As for Avon Lake, their win bumped their record up to 11-0-1.
