Recap: East Tech Scarabs vs. Max S. Hayes Lakers
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mentor, the East Tech Scarabs were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Max S. Hayes by a score of 62-54. Given East Tech's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 326th, while Max S. Hayes is ranked 761st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Tech's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chris Simon led the charge by scoring 19 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Lawrence, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
East Tech has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Max S. Hayes, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.
East Tech won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cleveland Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. The timing is sure in East Tech's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Cleveland Central Catholic has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Max S. Hayes, they will face off against Clearview at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
