Basketball Game Preview: McQueen Lancers vs. Reno Huskies

The McQueen Lancers will venture away from home to take on the Reno Huskies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: McQueen has struggled recently with 14 losses in a row, while Reno will arrive with ten straight wins.

McQueen is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Spanish Springs on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. McQueen was beaten by Spanish Springs 62-26. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Cougars are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, Reno earned a 46-36 victory over Bishop Manogue on Friday.

Reno's win came from a few key players McQueen will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Eva Houston, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Those 13 boards gave her a new career-high. Brookesly Wilson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds.

McQueen's defeat dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Reno, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-4.

McQueen might still be hurting after the 53-28 loss they got from Reno in their previous matchup back in January. Can McQueen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
