Basketball Recap: Stonewall Jackson Takes a Loss

Stonewall Jackson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 41st straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 39-24 bruising from the Madison County Mountaineers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Generals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-23 last Monday.

Madison County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ally Cave led the charge by putting up 11 points and four steals. What's more, Cave also racked up three assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gracie Woodward, who posted six points and 14 rebounds.

Stonewall Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Madison County, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15.

Stonewall Jackson and Madison County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Virginia Rankings. Stonewall Jackson (ranked 387th) will meet Strasburg (ranked 108th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Similarly, Madison County will challenge Central Woodstock at 7:30 p.m. on Friday down 170 places (327 vs. 157).
