Softball Recap: Mercer Island Takes a Loss

Mercer Island was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 23-1 to the Garfield Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Islanders of the 13-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.

Mercer Island's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Garfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Coming up, Mercer Island will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Interlake at 6:00 p.m. The Islanders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Garfield, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-2 victory against West Seattle on the 8th.
