Softball Recap: Wissahickon Comes Up Short

Wissahickon couldn't beat Villa Maria Academy on Friday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Trojans came up short against the Hurricanes, falling 20-8. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Giuliana Schumann was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Juliet O'Farrell, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one triple.

Wissahickon's record is now 5-9. As for Villa Maria Academy, they moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Wissahickon and Villa Maria Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Trojans (ranked 341st) will meet Upper Dublin (ranked 71st) at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Villa Maria Academy will challenge Mt. St. Joseph Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (284 vs. 119).
