Softball Recap: Fairfield Find Success

Fairfield won the last time they faced Valley and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lions had just enough and edged out the Indians 2-1. That's two games straight that the Lions have won by just one run.

Rilee Quickle made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Quickle wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jobey Hattan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Fairfield and bumps their season record up to 18-6. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Fairfield beat the Indians by a score of 2-1 later that day.
