Basketball Recap: Grant Hess' Big Game Can't Quite Lead New Richmond over Madeira

New Richmond was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 61-51 to the Madeira MUSTANGS/AMAZONS. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the MUSTANGS/AMAZONS apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

New Richmond lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Grant Hess, who went 6 of 12 en route to 16 points. Hess' evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Wolf, who went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and five boards.

Madeira's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Beck, who went 7 of 12 en route to 14 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Ben Reed, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds.

New Richmond now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Madeira, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-6.

New Richmond will take on Goshen at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Goshen is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.8 points per game this season. As for Madeira, they will square off against Reading at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
