Basketball Game Preview: Hodgdon Hawks vs. Van Buren Crusaders

The Hodgdon Hawks will challenge the Van Buren Crusaders at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hodgdon has three straight wins, Van Buren has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Hodgdon will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 39-point drubbing they dealt Washburn on Friday. Hodgdon blew past Washburn, posting an 83-44 victory. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Van Buren lost a heartbreaker to Ashland when they met last Thursday, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Van Buren came up short against Ashland, falling 47-21.

Hodgdon's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Van Buren, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Hodgdon against Van Buren in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 71-9 victory. Will Hodgdon repeat their success, or does Van Buren have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
