The St. Augustine Yellow Jackets will challenge the St. Joseph Academy Flashes at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
On Wednesday, St. Augustine didn't have quite enough to beat Mandarin and fell 2-1. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Xavier Ahr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Skylar Kokoszka was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph Academy came tearing into Monday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Falcons as they made off with a 12-5 victory. Considering the Flashes have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Neil Gornto looked comfortable as he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Lewis, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Patrick Mullahy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
St. Joseph Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
St. Joseph Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-1-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for St. Augustine, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
St. Augustine beat St. Joseph Academy 4-0 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Will St. Augustine repeat their success, or does St. Joseph Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
