Softball Recap: Cross Lanes Christian Wins Going Away Against Greater Beckley Christian

While Cross Lanes Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-9), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Greater Beckley Christian Crusaders on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Mary Franke was a standout: she scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Cassidy Witt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Cross Lanes Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win made it two in a row for Cross Lanes Christian and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Greater Beckley Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Greater Beckley Christian will venture away from home to challenge Richwood at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cross Lanes Christian will be paying especially close attention to the Crusaders' matchup: after the Crusaders faces off against the Lumberjacks, they'll take on Cross Lanes Christian again at 5:30 p.m. on the 21st.
