Amherst lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Iola-Scandinavia, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's game. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Thunderbirds on Monday. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Thunderbirds last Saturday, they had to take a 6-4 loss.

The result came thanks to Sam Nooyen's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Delaney Conner, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Chandler, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

Amherst now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Iola-Scandinavia, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Amherst will challenge Almond-Bancroft at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Iola-Scandinavia, they will face off against St. Mary Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
