Basketball Recap: Nevis Piles Up the Points Against Verndale + How To Watch

Nevis strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They breezed past the Verndale Pirates to the tune of 81-34. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Pirates, too.

Nevis had a senior duo take command as AJ Bessler dropped a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds and Ethan Buckholtz posted 28 points along with five assists and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Buckholtz has scored all season. Tjark Scheippeit was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Nevis' victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Verndale, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Nevis and East Central will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Verndale, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Upsala at 7:15 p.m. on January 8, 2026.
