Basketball Recap: Classical Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Classical Academy came into Tuesday's match having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 57-48 win over the Rock Academy Warriors on Tuesday. The Caimans' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Classical Academy found their leader in freshman Zachary Meister, who went 8 of 9 on his way to 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Meister has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan French, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points.

Despite the loss, Rock Academy still got an impressive performance from James Whitley, who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. That was a full 50% of Rock Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Roland Balderramos was another key player, putting up 12 points and four steals.

Classical Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Rock Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Classical Academy will square off against Fallbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rock Academy, they will take on Escondido at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
