Recap: Rockwell Christian School Chargers vs. Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors
The Rockwell Christian School Chargers fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 59-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Rockwell Christian School has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Rockwell Christian School still got an impressive performance from Destin Smith, who scored 25 points. That was a full 51% of Rockwell Christian School's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Palmer, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Levi Gaskins was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds for Asheboro Hybrid Academy. Gaskins is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last seven games he's played. Carter Edmonds was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Rockwell Christian School's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockwell Christian School will square off against Matthews Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Matthews Christian Academy is coming into the game with three straight defeats at home, so Rockwell Christian School is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Asheboro Hybrid Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Sheets Memorial Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Asheboro Hybrid Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Thursday.
