Preview: Trinity Christian vs. Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes
After two games on the road, Trinity Christian is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Coastal HomeSchool Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Trinity Christian's defense has only allowed 26.1 points per game this season, so Coastal HomeSchool's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Trinity Christian stacked a third blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard back in December of 2023. They breezed by Faith Christian Academy on the road to the tune of 43-13. The squad ran away with 32 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Meanwhile, Coastal HomeSchool came up short against Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics on Saturday and fell 36-23. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Coastal HomeSchool in their matchups with Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the loss, Coastal HomeSchool had strong showings from Chloe McNew, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds, and Harper McNew, who scored five points along with two steals. That was a full 60.9% of Coastal HomeSchool's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Coastal HomeSchool struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Trinity Christian pushed their record up to 6-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Coastal HomeSchool, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.
Trinity Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Coastal HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 53-42. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was McNew, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
