Basketball Game Preview: Hayfork Timberjacks vs. Princeton Eagles

The Hayfork Timberjacks will challenge the Princeton Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Hayfork is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They blew past Big Valley 54-15. The Timberjacks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hayfork to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lydia Yarbrough, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 steals. Hayfork is 11-2 when Yarbrough posts five or more steals, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Nanez, who posted 16 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Hayfork smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 26 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, everything went Princeton's way against Surprise Valley on Wednesday as Princeton made off with a 61-38 win.

Hayfork pushed their record up to 16-9 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.6 points. As for Princeton, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

Everything came up roses for Hayfork against Princeton in their previous meeting back in February of 2020, as the team secured a 63-27 victory. In that contest, Hayfork amassed a halftime lead of 36-13, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
