Basketball Recap: Sydney Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Muncie Burris over Union

Muncie Burris was the 42-17 winner over Union when they last played one another back in November of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Muncie Burris Owls took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Union Rockets on Monday.

Muncie Burris' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sydney Jackson, who posted 13 points and six steals. Jackson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 16 games she's played. Anna Murray was another key player, putting up 11 points and five rebounds.

Union's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Glory Ellis led the charge by going 8 of 17 on her way to 20 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzy Ogden, who went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points in addition to five steals and three blocks.

Muncie Burris dropped their record down to 3-15 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Union, their victory bumped their record up to 6-13.

Muncie Burris wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-36 loss against Muncie Central on the 29th. As for Union, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 32-30 defeat against Centerville on the 28th.
