Baseball Recap: Chichester Has No Trouble Against Academy Park

Chichester never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Academy Park Knights. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Brayden Sweigert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Sweigert was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Chichester let Gavin Derrickson and Evan Valentine run wild. Derrickson went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Valentine went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Johanson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Chichester and bumps their season record up to 14-5. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Academy Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Chichester will venture away from home to face off against Sun Valley at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Academy Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
