Volleyball Recap: Ellsworth Eagles vs. Greely Rangers
Ellsworth had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against the Greely Rangers on Friday, falling 3-0. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Rangers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
While Ellsworth was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Greely's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-23.
Austyn Atherton paced Ellsworth's offense, picking up eight kills. Atherton got some help from Sophie Harmon and her eight assists. Caitlin Jenkins controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Ellsworth and Greely will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles will take on rival Gray-New Gloucester at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Greely is set to square off against their familiar foe Lake Region at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
