After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wai'anae, Nanakuli was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the McKinley Tigers 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Golden Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2022.
Hunter Kealoha made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Kealoha was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaison Ellis, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 3-for-3.
Nanakuli's win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1. As for McKinley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.
After both having extra time off, Nanakuli and Kapolei will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field one another at 3:00 p.m. on March 26th. McKinley will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Wai'anae at 3:00 p.m. on March 26th.
