Basketball Game Preview: Springboro Panthers vs. Centerville Elks

Springboro is 1-9 against Centerville since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Elks at 7:30 p.m.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Springboro and Wayne, and Wayne kept the tradition alive. The Panthers fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 55-52 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Warriors are ranked 58th).

Meanwhile, Centerville had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They breezed past the Beavers to the tune of 86-59. The Elks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Centerville's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Springboro, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Springboro couldn't quite get it done against Centerville in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 as they fell 55-45. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
