Baseball Recap: Paraclete Takes a Loss

Paraclete was the 1-0 winner over Bishop Amat when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Paraclete Spirits fell 6-1 to the Bishop Amat Lancers on Friday. The Spirits' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Paraclete got a good showing from Anthony Hernandez, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Paraclete saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Antonio Longobardi, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Ivan Tejada also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Paraclete's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bishop Amat, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

While Paraclete had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
