Wethersfield posted their closest victory since August 26th on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the ROWVA/Williamsfield Cougars. The victory continues a trend for the Flying Geese in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Wethersfield had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-23, 25-10.

Wethersfield's record now sits at 19-2. As for ROWVA/Williamsfield, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 15-5.

Wethersfield and ROWVA/Williamsfield should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Flying Geese (ranked 146th) will meet Rockridge (ranked 451st) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
