Basketball Recap: Wheaton Takes a Loss

Wheaton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were beaten by the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars 81-28. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 589th, while the Cougars are ranked 163rd).

New Heights Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jadon Smith, who went 7 of 10 en route to 18 points. Smith has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayce Walker, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 15 points and five steals.

Wheaton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for New Heights Christian Academy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Wheaton will host Blue Eye at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Heights Christian Academy, they will challenge Jefferson Independent Day at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
