Basketball Game Preview: Sparkman Senators vs. Huntsville Panthers

Sparkman is 0-10 against Huntsville since February of 2022 but things could change on Tuesday. The Sparkman Senators will venture away from home to take on the Huntsville Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Friday, Sparkman beat Albertville 70-58.

Meanwhile, Huntsville came tearing into Saturday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Wolverines to the tune of 82-55. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Wolverines are ranked 43rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Huntsville pushed their record up to 27-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.6 points per game. As for Sparkman, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-17 record this season.

Sparkman suffered a grim 60-40 defeat to Huntsville when the teams last played last Friday. Can Sparkman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
