The Cross Stingrays will head out to square off against the Dorchester Academy Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cross barely beat Andrew Jackson Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Stingrays put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 15-5 victory on Monday. The Stingrays haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Ryan Mayers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Cross got a massive performance out of Sydney Hollings, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Hollings also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Alaysia Hollings was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Cross kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Dorchester Academy got themselves on the board against Jefferson Davis Academy on Monday, but Jefferson Davis Academy never followed suit. They blew past Jefferson Davis Academy 13-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Dorchester Academy has posted against Jefferson Davis Academy since March 14, 2019.
The team relied heavily on Brinley Pope, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Rylee Matthews, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
The win (which was Dorchester Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 14-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cross, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cross has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dorchester Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cross might still be hurting after the 13-1 loss they got from Dorchester Academy when the teams last played back in April. Can the Stingrays avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
