Softball Game Preview: East Leopards vs. Skyline Eagles

The East Leopards will face off against the Skyline Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East has four straight victories, Skyline has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

East will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating West, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Leopards put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 16-6 win on Tuesday. Considering the Leopards have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Skyline duked it out with Alta on Tuesday. The Eagles fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 18-17.

Bella Waters stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Isabella Rasmussen, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

East's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 11-16.

East took their victory against Skyline in their previous meeting on Wednesday by a conclusive 12-6 score. Will the Leopards repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
