Football Recap: Groom Tigers vs. Claude Mustangs
Groom was the 52-26 winner over Claude when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Groom Tigers fell just short of the Claude Mustangs by a score of 64-62 on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (42), the Tigers still had to take the loss.
Leading Claude to victory were Holden Tice and Thomas Slack. Tice threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes, while Slack gained 149 total yards and three touchdowns. What's more, Tice also racked up 61 rushing yards, the mosthe's had since back in September of 2023.
Groom's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Claude, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Groom will take on Wildorado at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Claude, they will square off against San Jacinto Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
