North Carolina High School Athletic Association postpones basketball championships, suspends all interscholastic activities

Southeast Raleigh was ranked No. 17 heading into 4A State Championship tournament.

In an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus, the North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced Thursday it is postponing the boys and girls basketball state tournament indefinitely.

"As much as we would like this opportunity for our student-athletes, coaches, and their communities, we know that ultimately any decision we make must err on the side of caution," NCHSAA commissioner Que Tucker said.

The NCHSAA board of directors moved to suspend all interscholastic activities through April 6 and will continue to assess the situation in the coming weeks.
