Recap: Chestnut Ridge Lions vs. Berlin Brothersvalley Mountaineers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Chestnut Ridge Lions, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 29-22 to Berlin Brothersvalley on Friday. Chestnut Ridge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Berlin Brothersvalley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2020.
Despite the loss, Chestnut Ridge still got an impressive performance from Nate Whysong, who rushed for 54 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 184 yards and a touchdown.
Pace Prosser looked great while leading his team to the win, rushing for 127 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 107 yards and a touchdown. Cody Kimmel also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Chestnut Ridge's loss was their fourth straight on the road , which bumped their record down to 7-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-1 Richland and 9-2 Penn Cambria (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 84.1% over those games). As for Berlin Brothersvalley, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-1.
Chestnut Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Berlin Brothersvalley will take on Westinghouse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westinghouse will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line.
