Softball Recap: St. Joseph's Academy Comes Up Short

St. Joseph's Academy lost against East Ascension back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. St. Joseph's Academy came up short against East Ascension, falling 19-6. While the Redstickers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Spartans 5-1 in the first period.

Georgia Millien made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nealy Estave, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

St. Joseph's Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. The victory (which was East Ascension's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph's Academy will challenge Scotlandville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for East Ascension, they will square off against Parkview Baptist at 4:35 p.m. on Monday.
