Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Catholic Eagles vs. Covenant Christian Cougars
It was a good run, but the St. Joseph Catholic Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 40-32 to Covenant Christian. St. Joseph Catholic was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Covenant Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alani Owens, who scored 15 points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Owens has scored at least a third of Covenant Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeley Chaddick, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
St. Joseph Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Covenant Christian, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-11.
St. Joseph Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Covenant Christian will be playing at home against the Crimson Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Christian Homeschool Sports Ministries presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Cougars in Texas (the Crimson Knights are ranked 205th, while the Cougars are ranked 561st).
