Oxnard and San Marcos are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. Oxnard will be playing in front of their home fans against San Marcos at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Oxnard nor San Marcos posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Oxnard fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Foothill Tech on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Dragons by a score of 2-1.

Koa Cunningham SOP spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Oxnard saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aldrian Higgs, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for San Marcos' offense. They came up short against Ventura on Monday, falling 7-0. The Royals have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Oxnard's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10. As for San Marcos, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.

Oxnard couldn't quite get it done against San Marcos in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 4-1. Can Oxnard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
