Softball Recap: Oak Lawn's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

After a string of five wins, Oak Lawn's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 8-3 to the Shepard Astros. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Astros this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-0 back in April.

Katie Casey made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

Oak Lawn's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Shepard, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season.

Oak Lawn will take on Oak Forest at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Shepard, they will square off against Thornton Fractional North at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Astros are facing the Meteors at the right time seeing as the Meteors are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
