Baseball Recap: Melrose-Mindoro Beats Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran for Their Fifth Straight Win

Melrose-Mindoro came out on top against Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Lancers. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jacob Thesing spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Eric Herzberg was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Blaken, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

The victory (which was Melrose-Mindoro's fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
