Basketball Game Preview: Fredericktown Freddies vs. Africentric Early College Nubians

The Fredericktown Freddies will challenge the Africentric Early College Nubians at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fredericktown will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Fredericktown is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Northridge 40-20. Given the Freddies' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Vikings are ranked 281st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fredericktown can attribute much of their success to Mya Bryant, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards, and Cally Carpenter, who posted 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Carpenter has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Gracyn Toombs was another key player, putting up six points.

Fredericktown was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northridge only four assists.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Africentric Early College beat Fairbanks 36-30 on Wednesday. The Nubians haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Fredericktown's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points over those games. As for Africentric Early College, their victory bumped their record up to 17-7.

Fredericktown took a serious blow against Africentric Early College in their previous matchup back in February of 2019, falling 86-7. Can Fredericktown avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
