Baseball Recap: Massac County Drops Highest Score of Season Against Crab Orchard

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Massac County). They blew past the Crab Orchard Trojans 14-4 on Monday.

Adan Mizell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Massac County let Max Elliott and Zach Maurer run wild. Elliott went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Maurer went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Maurer a new career-high. Devin Harris also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Massac County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Crab Orchard only managed six hits.

Massac County's record is now 13-2. As for Crab Orchard, their loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11.

Coming up, Massac County will take on Mt. Carmel at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Crab Orchard, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pope County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pirates will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
