Game recap: El Cerrito High School Football Team beats Salesian

RICHMOND, Calif. - El Cerrito (Calif.) jumped out to an early lead against Salesian (Richmond, Calif.) and never looked back on the way to a 40-14 victory on Saturday.

The Gauchos put up 15 points in the opening frame. El Cerrito scored on a Keilan Benjamin touchdown pass to Jalen Harvey and a touchdown pass by Benjamin to Keith Benjamin.

After taking the lead on a Benjamin touchdown pass to Benjamin in the first quarter, EC led 27-6 at the half.

The Gauchos expanded their lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. El Cerrito scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Adarius Pickett.

EC entered the contest giving up 19.6 points per game this year.



A 42-6 El Cerrito victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.

Salesian (3-3) goes up against St. Patrick-St. Vincent in a Tri-County - Rock game matchup next week, while El Cerrito (4-2) locks horns with Berean Christian also in a Tri-County - Rock game.
