Baseball Recap: Anderson Takes a Loss

Anderson extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-13 in the process. They lost 23-0 to the Yreka Miners. The Cubs lost against the Miners in their previous head to head back in April of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 4-3 score last time.

As for Yreka, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-13. That looming 23-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Yreka's part, Brody Zediker made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Zediker has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Yreka's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-13 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Yreka let Laydon Luce and Gabe Gregg run wild. Luce got on base in four of his five plate appearances with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Gregg went 3-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Gregg has become a key player for Yreka: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Vann, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Yreka beat Anderson by a score of 19-0 on Thursday.
