Basketball Recap: Wheeling Comes Up Short

Wheeling lost against Glenbrook North back in January of 2016 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wheeling Wildcats were outmatched by the Glenbrook North Spartans and fell 69-41. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 487th, while the Spartans are ranked 189th).

Wheeling dropped their record down to 4-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Glenbrook North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-4.

Wheeling will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 1:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Glenbrook North also won't see the court for a while: their next game is against Deerfield at 7:00 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
