Volleyball Recap: Plattsburg Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Plattsburg and Maryville, and Maryville kept the tradition alive. The Tigers came up short against the Spoofhounds on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spoofhounds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While Plattsburg was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 25-15.

Their offense was headlined by Ava Norton and Reece Biggerstaff, who picked up seven kills apiece. They were helped by Letecia Howard and Shay Steggall, who contributed 11 assists each. Finally, Claire Kubicki kept Plattsburg's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Plattsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5-2. As for Maryville, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plattsburg will welcome Mid-Buchanan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Maryville, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Cameron at 6:00 p.m.
