Softball Recap: Sandwich Comes Up Short

Sandwich lost against East Bridgewater back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Blue Knights lost 7-1 to the Vikings. The game marked the Blue Knights' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Sophie Farrington spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sandwich saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Brown, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Clodagh Coughlan also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Sandwich's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for East Bridgewater, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandwich will welcome Carver at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for East Bridgewater, they will square off against Cohasset at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
