Softball Preview: Clarksdale Wildcats vs. Lafayette Commodores
Clarksdale is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lafayette Commodores at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Clarksdale's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Rosa Fort as Clarksdale made off with a 20-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Wildcats as they're now sitting on five straight.
Meanwhile, Lafayette won against Biloxi on Wednesday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Lafayette blew past West Union 12-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Commodores.
Sydney Cregar made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Avery Lewis was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Clarksdale's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Lafayette, their victory bumped their record up to 9-3.
