Baseball Recap: Eldred Comes Up Short

Eldred was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 8-5 to SS Seward. The Yellowjackets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced SS Seward earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Jayson Banach put in work no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Banach wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Tice, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That double was Tice's first of the season.

Eldred's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for SS Seward, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Eldred will head out to square off against Chapel Field Christian at 4:30 p.m. on the 23rd. As for SS Seward, they will venture away from home to challenge Tri-Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
