Baseball Game Preview: DeLand Bulldogs vs. Dr. Phillips Panthers

The DeLand Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Dr. Phillips Panthers at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Neither DeLand nor Dr. Phillips posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

DeLand fell victim to IMG Academy Silver and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Ascenders, falling 12-0. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Dr. Phillips and Boone, and Boone kept the tradition alive. Dr. Phillips lost 11-1 to Boone on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered since February 26th.

Dr. Phillips saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Diego Diaz, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

DeLand's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Dr. Phillips, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

DeLand might still be hurting after the 11-4 loss they got from Dr. Phillips in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can DeLand avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
