Baseball Recap: Jamestown Muskies vs. Union City Bears
Jamestown had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 0-11 to make it nine. They lost 11-2 to the Union City Bears. If the Muskies were looking for revenge after losing 12-4 to the Bears when the teams met back in March of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Jamestown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Pressler, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Chance Jancsar also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
As for Union City, they now have a winning record of 3-2. That looming 11-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.
On Union City's side, Joey Zahner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. Zahner has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Union City got a big performance out of Cooper Fox, who went 3-for-5 with three runs and one double. Trevin Capela was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.
Coming up, Jamestown will look to defend their home field on Monday against Lakeview at 4:00 p.m. As for Union City, they will challenge Seneca at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bobcats will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
