Softball Recap: Dobson Comes Up Short

Dobson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 26-13 to the Mesa Jackrabbits. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jackrabbits apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Natalie Hamblin and Sydnee Kapanak stepped up to the plate in a big way. Hamblin got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Kapanak scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Mersades Torres was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Dobson's defeat dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Mesa, their win bumped their record up to 3-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dobson will square off against Westwood at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Mesa, they will take on Red Mountain at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
