Basketball Game Preview: Pennfield Panthers vs. Marshall Redhawks

The Pennfield Panthers will head out to take on the Marshall Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Pennfield will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Pennfield earned a 53-42 victory over Northwest. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Mounties are ranked 411th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marshall). They breezed by Three Rivers to the tune of 65-38 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Redhawks have posted since February 23, 2024.

Pennfield's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Marshall, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-6.

Things could have been worse for Pennfield, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-31 loss to Marshall in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Pennfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
